Hallucinogenic substances like psilocybin can have short-term negative effects, but these are most likely associated with macro-doses, as microdoses, as suggested in our microdosing protocol, are sub-perceptual doses.

Specific short-term effects of macro-doses of hallucinogens include:

  • Increased blood pressure, breathing rate, or body temperature

  • Loss of appetite

  • Dry mouth

  • Sleep problems

  • Spiritual experiences

  • Feelings of relaxation

  • Uncoordinated movements

  • Excessive sweating

  • Panic

  • Paranoia โ€” Extreme and unreasonable distrust of others

  • Psychosis โ€” Disordered thinking detached from reality

  • Bizarre behaviors

*These effects are associated with macro-doses and journeys and not with microdoses.
